Low Angle Adapter
Wicked Edge ref. WELA
Lets a Wicked Edge sharpen at angles below its standard 13 degrees a side, which is what straight razors, fillet knives and thin Japanese kitchen knives want. Ask us whether it fits your model.
The sharpening system we use ourselves, sold in South Africa by It's a STEEL. A few accessories are on the shelf in Potchefstroom; the sharpeners and the rest of the range we order for you from the factory, with everything landed, cleared and included in the price.
A Wicked Edge holds the knife in a vise and runs diamond stones down both sides of the blade on guide rods set to the angle you choose, from 13 to 31 degrees a side. Because the angle is fixed by the machine and not by your wrist, every stroke lands on the same bevel, and the next time you sharpen the knife it goes straight back onto the edge you made last time. Work through the grits, finish on a strop, and the result is the kind of edge that pops hair and stays sharp for months.
Wicked Edge's own two-minute video shows the whole process. For more, including finding the angle on a knife you have never sharpened, see our video page, or bring a knife to us and watch it done on our sharpening service.
Genuine Wicked Edge accessories, at the prices shown, ready to collect from 74 Smit Street or to send by The Courier Guy for a flat R150. Mostly one of each, so ask before you drive.

Wicked Edge ref. WE5080
The coarsest stones in the range: a pair of premium monocrystalline diamond stones on Wicked Edge handles, for repairing chips, setting a new bevel and reprofiling in minutes rather than hours.

Wicked Edge ref. WE8001000
The step after the 200/600 stones that come with every sharpener: an extra-fine and an ultra-fine pair that refine the edge for a cleaner, keener, longer-lasting finish.

Wicked Edge ref. WE Balsa
A pair of blank balsa strops on Wicked Edge handles, ready for your own diamond paste or emulsion. Balsa is firmer than leather, so it rounds the edge less and gives a crisper polish with diamond paste.

For a kitchen drawer and a few pocket knives, the Carbon does everything the GO does at a lower price. For hunting knives, hard steels and a lot of knives, the GO's premium stones cut faster and last longer, and the Pro Packs add the two upgrades everyone buys anyway. The Venture and Venture Pro go in the pack or the tackle box and keep a working edge on a knife in the field. Come and try ours, or send us a WhatsApp and tell us what you want to sharpen.
